Over the weekend i had the misfortune of attending the Monash Uni Indian and Sri Lankan Clubs' joint cultural night.....twas held at Monash's Robert Blackwood Hall...and to be honest i came away from it....utterly disappointed.....
Reason being....the only culture i chanced on that whole night was the bacteria growing on the bottom of my seat....these guys wouldnt have known culture if they fell head first into a cauldron of youghurt...the few traditional items were beyond pathetic and the rest of the items just made a mockery of the fact that it was a "cultural night".....even as regular items they were sadly substandard besides isolated acts....even any jc production would have left it licking its wounds....let alone a NUS production....
however the biggest impact that the event had on me was when i first walked into the hall......because....it just hit me...like a ton of bricks....that.....
THERE WERE SO MANY OF US!!!!!.....SO MANY!!...
twas like a disease....a viral infection...no...twas a tumour...a huge malignant, kurry flavoured tumour that kept on growing and invading Robert Blackwood Hall.....i honestly felt suffocated...
its crazy....ive seen such large indian crowds before in singapore i guess but its never slapped in the face the way this one did....and it didnt help that it was full of the creame of the poseur crop....every insane hairstyle and colour was on display....a bunch of chocolate peacocks preening....
anyways enough whining....
here's us.....

a part of that tumour i suppose we were...sadly...
oh and do note that very conspicuous fellow on the side....a silver lining on a very dark cloud.....a dash of tumeric in the kurry....jereme...oh jereme....
hey justin....jereme here is a man after your own indian heart.....haha
and here's one of the reasons we went....some of our friends were performing....

here's part of the troupe...anu the Big Mama....and 2 of the dancers Divya and Balqis
